Measures To Help Prevent Acid Reflux Disease

The first rule is about the amount of meals you eat. You should be eating small, frequent meals instead of three a day. Minor amounts of food that make your stomach work less which results in decreased acid secretion for digestion.

Another important trick: Include acid reflux foods high in complex carbohydrates in each meal. These foods, like rice, bread and pasta are able to limit the excess stomach acid.

Avoid meals high in fat, which are more difficult to digest.

Avoid or limit alcohol.

Maintain an upright position during meals and avoid lying down for at least 45 minutes after eating.

Keep your head elevated when you are lying down.

Avoid drinks that stimulate the secretion of acid, such as beer, wine and soft drinks. The worst thing of all is beer!

Dispelling Some Acid Reflux Foods Myths:

Drink milk before bed: Many people are convinced that drinking milk before bed is a good solution for the problem of acid reflux. In fact, often the milk ends up causing reflux during sleep. The milk, which apparently seems to give relief, actually increases the secretion of stomach acid.

In trying to understand the situation at the origin, it must be said that the underlying problem is linked to “eating too much” for dinner. Look over the acid reflux foods to avoid list again!  Overeating before going to sleep causes increased production of stomach acid.

Coffee, citrus fruits and spicy foods are they a good or bad acid reflux foods?

Mixed feelings: Many argue that the coffee fruit (the most acidic) and spicy foods can aggravate acid reflux. Therefore, we should avoid them in our daily diet in order to reduce acid reflux.

A recent study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, in May 2006 wanted to refute these “assumptions”. Researchers at Stanford University have found that only two things can reduce the symptoms of acid reflux: Eat less (especially those acid reflux foods to avoid) and keep the head slightly elevated when you sleep.I Cured My Acid Relfux
